CMALL: Tigers edge Cardinals

COSTA MESA - Once again, the Costa Mesa American Little League
Major Division Tigers received some late-inning magic to pull out a win.
Scott Shafer’s RBI hit in the bottom of the sixth inning lifted the
Tigers to a 3-2 win over the CM National League Cardinals.
Shafer, who pitched a scoreless sixth inning to receive the win, drove
in Scott Surdyka for the tiebreaking run.
Surdyka pitched five strong innings, while Cody Spoulos and Andrew
Millan each added a key hit and stellar defense.
Other key Tiger performances came from Jason Schroeder, Adam Gardner,
Chris Rodriguez, Alex Moralez and Steven Hamasaki.
The Cardinals were led by strong pitching performances by Tom Morley
and Evan Van Geem, who combined for eight strikeouts. Van Geem also had
two hits for the Cards.
In CMALL t-ball action:
For the Devil Rays, in their matchup with the Angels, Connor Sage, his
a two-run double, while Jonathon Jenkins made two strong defensive plays
and drove in four runs to be named player of the game. Steven Choo also
made a key defensive play for the D-Rays.
The Angels were led by pitcher Tyler McLuckey, Christian Cockerell and
Ethan Haws.
