Newport Beach police are looking for people who may have been
victimized by a heating company.
Officials said they have received complaints from two Newport Beach
residents about Dwain Kressin, who is operating under the company name of
Clean Air Heating Co. and who allegedly collected or tried to collect
deposits, but did not get the job done.
“One of the incidents was an attempt to defraud,” said Newport Beach
Police Sgt. Steve Shulman. The other person lost $1,400, he said.
Similar complaints have also trickled in from Huntington Beach, San
Clemente and Fountain Valley, said Shulman. He said officials do not know
where the business is located. The last known location is Laguna Niguel,
but people have spotted a van or truck with the company’s name painted on
it in Newport Beach, Shulman said.
Kressin is reported to have done jobs relating to cleaning air ducts
and installing air conditioners.
“Once he [falsely] told somebody that there was a recall of some [air
conditioning] part and charged money for that,” Shulman said.
Anyone who has been victimized or has information is asked to call
Det. Jon Lewis at 800-550-NBPD.
