* AT ISSUE: The nonprofit organization Share Our Selves announced
earlier this month that it would expand its Costa Mesa facility by July.
Yes, I support the expansion of Share Our Selves. At a time when our
medical bills were extremely high, having those resources really kept my
family together, rather than having to put my children in foster care.
Now that I’m back on my feet, I’m able to give a little bit back.
Share Our Selves is a vital resource for people who fall through the
cracks of community services.

I believe strongly that the need is great and the results will be
worthwhile. The building is small and in need of improvements.
For all that gets done there, and the number of people it serves, it
will be an asset to the city. It will be especially helpful if a
classroom is available to help people help themselves so they can get
back into the work force.

I emphatically support Share Our Selves. I regard it as perhaps one of
1,000 points of light or a sterling example of conservative compassion.

I want to go on record as favoring Share Our Selves, and I know what
I’m talking about because I served as a volunteer there for a long time.
As a matter of fact, I’d still be serving there except that I had a
couple of strokes and can’t do the work anymore. I know it’s a
first-class operation and many, many people need it. I know from being
there, and I’d like to support the renovation.MICHAEL MACINNES

I think it’s wonderful that Share Our Selves is continuing its service
to the indigent without regard to financial status or anything else. It’s
such a great service and so few people do it.
To renovate its facility and be able to give some more care to the
children is just a wonderful thing. My husband, John, certainly feels the
same as I do. We’ve been supporters of SOS over the years just for that
reason.
One person can’t do much, but you get a whole group of people that
help and then you really have something really good.

We were delighted to read that Share Our Selves is expanding and
further developing its services in Costa Mesa.
We believe that Share Our Selves is probably the most important social
service agency providing direct support to people in this entire area. We
applaud its efforts.
