CMNLL: Cardinals take two

COSTA MESA - The Cardinals used strong pitching to pulled two
victories last week in Costa Mesa National Little League Majors Division
action, 7-3, over the Dodgers and, 12-0, over the Yankees.
In the win over the Dodgers, pitchers Evan Van Geem and Tim Morley
combined to strike out 13, while at the plate Peter Frydendall led the
way with three hits and two runs scored.
Starnes Arnold, Van Geem, Garrick Williams, Daniel Freeman and Matt
Biagi also scored for the Cardinals, while Steve Shelton made a great
catch in right field to spoil a Dodgers’ rally.
In the win over the Yankees, Morley had two home runs and a double,
while Van Geem added a two-run home run.
Arnold was 3 for 4 with a triple and three runs scored, while Sheldon,
Andrew Monette and Eddie Tomasek each added two hits. Frydendall and Ryan
Pfautz each added to the offense by scoring runs.
In other Majors Division action:
Diamondbacks 4, Red Sox 0 - Pitchers Brandon Maurer, Ryan Redding and
Austin Elliott combined for seven strikeouts as the Diamondbacks
prevailed.
Trevor McDonald and Redding each added key RBI hits for the
Diamondbacks, while Maurer, Taylor McClanahan and Aaron Quella each
reached base and scored.
Allan Kincaide was strong on defense for the D-Backs.
Diamondbacks 3, Astros 1 - Pitchers Brandon Maurer, Allan Kincaide and
Austin Elliott combined for 12 strikeouts in the Diamondbacks’ win.
Trevor McDonald put the Diamondbacks on the scoreboard with an RBI
single, scoring Andrew Ayala, who singled.
Taylor McClanahan had an RBI single to score Riley Hart, who led off
the fourth inning with a triple.
In the fifth, Aaron Quella tripled and scored on a RBI single by
McClanahan.
Ryan Redding and Elliott each played well on defense for the D-Backs.
In Minor “B” action:
Dodgers 19, Angels 6 - The Dodgers jumped out to a 7-0 first-inning
lead and never looked back.
Marc DeFrenza, Tim Frydendall, Bryan Maurer, Ryan Molasky, Adam Miller
and Josh Godich, Kendra Fisher and Andrew Roth helped lead the Dodgers’
offensive attack, while on defense, Luke Roberts, Ryan Boselo and Nick
Fowler led the way.
Diamondbacks 26, Devil Rays 6 - Jesse Fox, Cory Dryden and Chase
Harrison each had two-run home runs to lead the Diamondbacks’ attack.
Timely hits were provided by Justin Boesecker, Daniel Derieg, Kurtis
Dryden, Anthony Israelson, Jeremy Jeranko, Victor Lozoya, Michael Pierce,
Austin Rice and Christopher Shelton.
