Air Force Airman Lawrence O. Banzon of Fountain Valley graduated from
basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
He is the son of Lex and Lucy Banzon of Fountain Valley. . . . David
Koch, Wells Fargo Newland Center branch manager presented a $1,000 check
as a part of the bank’s Community Partners program to Mary-Ellen
Cianciabella of the Huntington Youth Shelter. . . . Huntington Beach
resident Leslie Barkemeyer was elected to the board of trustees for
Cornell University in Ithica, N.Y. She will serve two years beginning
next year as a junior. She is the daughter of Don and Barbara Barkemeyer
of Huntington Beach. . . . Army Pvt. Neil A. Black arrived for duty at
Suwon Air Base in South Korea. Black is a patriot launching station
enhanced operator/maintainer assigned to the Alpha Battery, 1st
Battalion, 43rd Air Defense Artillery. He is the son of Roma L. Baker of
Huntington Beach. . . . Air Force Airman Ian P. Rohde graduated from
basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
The airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs. He
received special training in human relations. He is the son of Marcia
Rohde of Huntington Beach. . . . Huntington Beach native Nicole C. Alvino
has been transferred to London with the Houston-based Enron Corp. She’s a
financial analyst working in global finance and will be on assignment
there for 18-24 months. She is a 1994 graduate of Marina High School and
a 1998 magna cum laude graduate of Vanderbilt University. She is the
daughter of Vincent and Sally Alvino of Huntington Beach.
