NHBA Bronco: Dodgers take care of Braves

NEWPORT BEACH - The Dodgers used quality pitching and errorless

defense to defeat the Braves, 9-4, in Newport Harbor Baseball Association

Bronco Division (ages 11-12) action.

Pitchers Eric Paine, Jarrett Daniel and R.J. D’Cruz combined for 10

strikeouts while the defense, led by Jerry Whitney, Chase Behr, Trey

LaGrandeur, Jake Dayton, Alan Orozco and Robert Tumlin, was superb.

D’Cruz, Daniel and Ian Goodwin sparked the Dodgers’ offense with

consecutive doubles, while Dan Winkle came through with a two-run single.

For the Braves, John Swift was strong on defense at first base, while

Chase Lanting added two hits. Niko Hernandez, Preston Davey, Bryce

Jardine, Justin Jones and David Holmes each had hits, while Junior

Hernandez pitched three solid innings and struck out four.

In Mustang Division (ages 9-10) action:

Braves 5, Mets 1 - Nick Svendsen had four RBIs to lead the Braves over

the Mets.

Svendsen went 3 for 4, while Coby Peterson and Brett Ollinger each

added key hits.

The Braves’ defense was led by Blake Davey, Svendsen, Peterson and

Ollinger.

For the Mets, Ned Lyon and Scott Ward each pitched quality innings.

Dodgers 10, Orioles 0 - Jeff Frum went 3 for 3 with five RBIs to lead

the Dodgers to the win.

Chris Griffin added two hits and two RBIs for the Dodgers, while

Justin Cotham, Braden Cluck, Max Joliffe and Garrett McRoberts each added

key hits.

On defense, the Dodgers were led by David Blake-Panas, Peter Thomsen

and Jeffrey Allee, while on the mound, McRoberts, Frum and Victor Done

preserved the shutout.

The Orioles were led by the solid, all-around play from Zach Moghaddam

and Jack Grace.

Angels 9, Diamondbacks 8 - Mike Ransom’s two-run double in the bottom

of the eighth inning gave the Angels the comeback victory over the

Diamondbacks.

Abdon Ortega and J.T. King each played well for the Angels, with

Ortega striking out seven out of the nine batters he faced.

The D-Backs were led by Ryan DeSantigo, Josh Gagnon, Francisco Barron,

Gilbert Obeso and Michael Rentera.

Braves 5, Mets 1 - Nick Svendsen went 3 for 4 with four RBIs to lead

the Braves to victory.

Coby Peterson and Blake Davey each had key hits for the Braves, while

Brett Ollinger, Garrett Weigel and Alex Arthur each had solid all-around

efforts.

The Mets were led by strong pitching from Scott Ward and Ned Lyon.

Braves 13, Yankees 3 - Blake Davey and Nick Svendsen each had

three-run home runs to lead the Braves’ offensive assault.

Coby Peterson, Brett Ollinger, Zack Sprague and Jake Caughill also

added to the Braves’ offense.

The Yankees were led by Justin Faber and Kyle Lawrence.
