The community association at One Ford Road, a gated new-home

neighborhood by Pacific Bay Homes, has hired Christy Meier to serve as

community concierge and activities coordinator. Meier’s duties include

scheduling recreation activities, event planning and assisting homeowners

with arrangements for meetings, informal gatherings and private parties

that use community amenities. . . . Lauren Michelle Edwards of Newport

Beach was named the valedictorian at Santa Margarita Catholic High School

for finishing first in her class academically. In the fall, she will

attend UC Berkeley, where she plans to pursue a career as a pediatrician.

. . . Shaun Buttermore, son of Newport Beach resident Kirk Buttermore,

was placed on the 2000-01 honor roll at New Hampton School in New

Hampshire. A senior at the high school, Shaun Buttermore has participated

in the mountain bike and ski teams, and is involved in the school’s

independent music study program. . . . Orange Coast College recognized 36

graduates as honor students during a dessert reception this month. Among

those honored were students Krista Carolan, Karen Chang, Jean Chauv,

Richard Ching, Eugene Chung, Stephanie Desa, Laurie Eason, Shayne Fee,

Ernesto Ganadan, Shaun Haney, Troy Harmon, Kimberly Kennedy, Nicole Kim,

Vencius, April Walker, Katherine Weikel and Yung Vung Yam. . . .

Fourth-graders from Mariners Christian School in Costa Mesa took a trip

to Sacramento to tour, among other things, Old Town and Sutter’s Fort and

met state officials. During the three-day trip, students also visited the

James Marshall Gold Discovery Park and panned for gold with Coloma miner

Rodney Earle Bland.
