Priscilla Elizabeth Spinn, daughter of former Newport Beach residents
Gerald and Anne Spinn, died Saturday in Summerville, S.C., after a
yearlong battle with brain cancer. She was 39.
Ms. Spinn was a graduate of Corona del Mar High School, where she
played field hockey, basketball and softball. She was the Orange County
Girl Scout Council’s Girl Scout of the Year in 1980. She was employed as
an economic crime investigator by the Garden Grove Police Department. She
attended Golden West College, where she was a member of the state
championship field hockey team in 1980, Humboldt State University and San
Francisco State.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Marshall Spinn.
She is survived by her parents, who are now residents of Summerville;
brothers Michael and Mark; aunts and uncles Brenda and Les Allred,
Eleanore and Howard Fox, and Creighton J. Spinn; great-aunt Truman
Butler; and her beloved cats, Elvis and Cat Stevens.
She was buried next to her brother in the family plot at St. Paul’s
Episcopal Church in Summerville. A celebration of her life will be held
in Newport Beach in the near future.
As a memorial, Priscilla wanted to establish a camper scholarship for
