Softball clinic: Vanguard softball to host clinic

The Vanguard University softball team will host three softball
clinics this fall.
Two of the clinics will be for girls ages 9-18 and the third will be
for junior high and senior high coaches.
The first will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, from 8:15 a.m. to noon.
Vanguard players will be instructing on the basic fundamental skills
of throwing, hitting, fielding, and baserunning.
The Lions will focus on more specific skills of the game Saturday,
Oct. 6, also from 8:15-noon.Pitching, catching, hitting and slapping, and
advanced fielding will be covered at the clinic.
The third clinic will be Nov. 7, from 3-5 p.m. Junior high and high
school coaches are invited.
The focus will be on how to organize and run an efficient and
effective practice.
Vanguard coaches and players will demonstrate various drills and
practice plans as well as providing tips on budget and equipment
management.
Clinic costs vary per clinic. Athletes can pre-register for $35, or
pay $40 on the morning of the clinic.
Five-dollar discounts will be awarded for groups of five or more and
there will also be a discount for attending both clinics.
The coaches clinic charge is $25 per coach and $15 for each additional
coach from the same program. E-mail or call the softball coaches at

Players are encouraged to bring their own catcher’s gear and bat.
