Blue Tidal Waves roll along

Kirsten Maroney scorched the nets for five goals Saturday to lead the
Blue Tidal Waves to their 11th victory of the season, a 7-0 shutout of
the Red Lazers in AYSO Region 55 girls’ Under-10 Division playoff action.
Katie Bogard and Devon Shinn each scored once to complete the scoring
for the unbeaten Blue Tidal Waves, who will begin semifinal round play on
Nov. 27.
The defense was spearheaded by Megan White, who got the shutout in
goal, and sweeper Nicole Camarillo.
“The girls played a super game,” Coach Lisa Bogard said.

UNDER-12 DIVISION
Title Waves 2, Orange Crush 1
Jessica Brunner scored both goals for the Title Waves in this close
playoff showdown. Her first goal came on a strong kick off a feed by Beth
Rafferty and, after the Orange Crush tied the score, she beat the Orange
Crush goalie in a one-on-one matchup in the second period for what turned
out to be the winning score. Kelsey Ferry, Addy Graves, Joanna Steinhaus,
Jessica Gagnon, Nicolette Mather and Tonya Picken paced a defensive
effort that featured several saves by Jamie Freeman and Kelsie McInnes.
UNDER-10 DIVISION
Green Geckos 2, Tidal Waves 1
Alison Hensley lofted a strong kick into the back on the net late in
the contest to lift the Green Geckos, who also got a goal from Jenna
Heberden. Sara Fetters made several big saves in goal to ensure the win
and received solid defensive support from Emily Bush, Gabriella Jackson
and Whitney Warren as the Green Geckos advanced to the division’s
championship game.
Green Geckos 4, Island Girls 2
Sharp passing led to three goals by Jesscia Parker and one by Alison
Hensley in the Green Geckos win. Halfbacks Nika Briones, Katy Fetters and
Taylere Joe paced the defense.

UNDER-12 DIVISION
Jail Breakers 2, Irish 1
In the first weekend of the region’s playoffs, Ri Hansler’s third
period goal broke a 1-1 tie as the Jail Breakers prevailed. Collin
Provost stole a first quarter pass by the Irish to put in the game’s
first goal, but the Irish gained a 1-1 tie on Clayton Prestridge’s second
quarter goal. Blayne Anderson’s play in goal also keyed the Jail
Breakers’ win.
