Award-winning playwright’s comedy to premiere at SCR

South Coast Repertory will premiere Tony-award winning playwright Richard Greenberg’s new comedy, “The Injured Party,” on the Julianne Argyros Stage during the 11th Annual Pacific Playwrights Festival in May.

The comedy centers on “The Gates,” a famous art exhibit installed in New York Central Park in 2005.

“ A season that includes a new Greenberg play is always exciting for us here at SCR — and for the American theater,” said artistic director David Emmes.

Greenberg received the Tony award for “Take Me Out” and was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for “Three Days of Rain,” one of six plays the theater commissioned and premiered.

Performances of “The Injured Party” begin April 20 and will continue through May 11. Tickets are $20 to $62, with lower-priced tickets available for preview dates.
