County swap meet allows can of food as admission

As if the bargains at the Orange County swap meet weren’t enough to attract last-minute Christmas shoppers, organizers are offering admission at virtually no cost — just a small, canned donation.

Bring canned food for the Second Harvest Food Bank, and admission is free today and Sunday only. The food will contribute to Christmas dinner for those in need, and shoppers will get the chance to snatch up some inexpensive gifts or stocking stuffers for friends and family.

The marketplace opens at 7 a.m. and closes at 4 p.m. at the Orange County Fairgrounds, 88 Fair Drive in Costa Mesa. For more information call (714) 708-1500.

This is the last weekend the fairgrounds is hosting the giant swap meet this holiday season.
