Assemblyman Van Tran donated more than 300 phone cards to troops overseas Friday to try and bring them holiday cheer as they celebrate the holidays in Iraq and Afghanistan, officials said.
In partnership with AT&T;, Tran handed over several hundred phone cards, each with 100 minutes on it, to officials at the California National Guard and Army Reserve Joint Forces Training Center in Los Alamitos.
“As Christmas rapidly approaches, I wanted to thank all of the soldiers for their service to our country and for all that they have done to protect our freedom,” Tran said in a news release.
Tran’s family was evacuated from Vietnam in 1975 a week before the fall of Saigon. He moved to Orange County while in high school.
