Diablos defeat the Hawks in overtime

The Diablos scored twice and didn’t give up a goal during an overtime shootout, and the effort resulted in a 5-3 victory over the Hawks in Howe Division action at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

Austin Koss scored the last of his match-best three goals to open up the shootout session, and Dana Everett capped the scoring to put the Diablos up 5-3.

Corey Childers also scored, Koss had an assist, and Ricky Zatarain recorded 19 saves.

Andrew Schenker, Alec Lang and Stuart Urbano all scored for the Hawks.

Sam Prizler had 18 saves.

In other Howe Division action

Storm 8, Rattlers 4

The Storm jumped out to a 5-1 lead through two periods and went on to topple the Rattlers.

Jake Grothjan led all scorers with four goals. Alec Dahl scored twice, and Alec Roberson and Matthew Oyakawa each scored once.

Oyakawa also led the Storm in assists with two, and Nicholas Ashworth and Riley Draghi each had an assist.

Jadin Press finished with 19 saves.

Weston Bechtold’s two goals and assist paced the Rattlers. Sean Cullinane scored once with two assists, and Logan Bechtold scored once.

Kyle Aube had 25 saves.

Patriots 6, Bruins 3

The Patriots outscored the Bruins 2-0 in the third period to pull away with the win.

Jeremy Corwin led all scorers with three goals, and teammate Matthew Chism scored twice.

Ethan Simpson also scored, and Sean Mastro had 20 saves.

Mark Clifford scored twice to lead the Bruins. Luke Barrett had a goal and assist, and Mitchell Sprague and Jonathan Bowles each had an assist.

Savannah Patton recorded 28 saves.
