Sage’s Danner earns first-team recognition

Sage Hill School junior Tierney Danner was named first-team All-Academy League in girls’ basketball, in recent voting by league coaches.
Senior point guard Katie McKeon and junior forward Stephanie Garrison earned second-team laurels, while sophomore forward Hannah Jeffrey was honorable mention.
Danner averaged 17.2 points and 9.1 rebounds per game, helping lead the Lightning to second place in league and the CIF Southern Section Division IV-AA quarterfinals. She scored a season-high 31 against Laguna Beach on Dec. 18, and had a team-high 12 double-doubles.
Danner, who earned first-team honors for the second straight year, also averaged team-highs of 2.3 steals per game and 2.9 blocks.
McKeon, a four-year varsity starter at point guard, averaged 4.6 points and a team-high 5.0 assists per game. It was her second straight year earning second-team honors.
Garrison scored 7.9 points, second on Sage Hill, and pulled down 7.9 rebounds per game.
Jeffrey, often the Lightning’s first player off the bench, averaged 3.8 points per game and pulled down 8.5 rebounds, the latter ranking second on the Lightning. She had a career-high 19 rebounds against Fairmont Prep on Jan. 2.
Sage Hill finished with a 17-10 record, 7-3 in league.
