NEWPORT COAST — Freshman Jack Heffron went two for three with a double, home run and five RBIs for the Lightning in their nonleague mercy-rule win Tuesday.
Heffron hit his first career home run and Sage Hill’s first homer of the season in the fourth, a two-run shot. He also had a three-run double in the third.
Sophomore Sean Vogel went three for four for the Lightning (1-2), who play host to Whitney in their Academy League opener March 18.

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Kyle Caldwell, a senior bound for UCLA, had 45 assists, 10 kills and two blocks in the Sailors’ 25-22, 25-21, 25-23 nonleague victory Tuesday.
Seniors Max Volz (12 kills, three blocks), Mark Lieberman (nine kills, four aces) and Tucker Peleuses (nine kills) also contributed, as did junior JB Green (five kills, four digs) for Newport Harbor (6-2).

NEWPORT BEACH — Joey Booth led with 13 kills and two aces as the Lightning defeated Tarbut V’Torah Tuesday.
The Lightning (3-4) won, 25-21, 25-16, 25-21, without junior kill leader Bayle Smith, who was out with a fever.
Carl Hillgren had eight kills and senior libero Mattias Russo-Larson had 11 digs and three aces.
The Lightning haven’t played with their original starting lineup for the past two weeks because of injury and illness.

CORONA DEL MAR — Sophomore Gabino Felguroso won the two matches he competed before being substituted at No. 1 singles for the Sea Kings in their nonleague match Tuesday.
Ryan Peyton swept at No. 3 singles. The No. 1 doubles team of Hayden Tremper and Joel Ishii and the No. 3 doubles team of David Vu and Brent Pham also swept for CdM (4-1).

NEWPORT BEACH — Junior Kevin Wang, usually the Lightning’s No. 1 singles player, showed up a bit late because of a test, but swept at No. 3 singles in a nonleague match Tuesday at Balboa Bay Club Racquet Club.
Wang earned the clinching set point for Sage Hill (3-5), ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division IV, for the second match in a row.
Sage Hill Coach A.G. Longoria said it is the first time a boys’ team has been ranked No. 1 in school history.

Estancia, (3-2 overall, 2-0 in the Orange Coast League) had contributions from Storm Hagen (39), Andrew Ayala (40), Jon Person (41), and Ryan Burns (44).
Estancia will face Westminster Thursday at Meadowlark Country Club.

IRVINE — Mac Mace shot even-par 36 to earn medalist honors for the Lightning in their nonleague match Tuesday at Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course.
Jared Hoffman carded a 42, while Steven Grant and Steven Choi each finished at 43 for Sage Hill (2-3). The Lightning’s James Chai had a 47.

ALISO VIEJO — Medalist Camden Nicholson eagled the hist first hole, then played the rest of the round one-over par to lead the Sea Kings to victory Tuesday.
Nicholson was one-under-par 32, while Taylor Keddington (33), Connor Corrigan (37), Tanner Trauthen (38), Jeff Jones (39) and Josh Starnes (39) combined to shoot the lowest score in a high school match at Aliso Viejo Country Club this year. Alternate Nick Freeman three over with 36.
CdM (2-5) will play Laguna Hills at Laguna Woods Golf Course.
