Clinic scores high in health care survey

The Ryan White Foundation, through Orange County Healthcare Agency, recently conducted a survey regarding patient care in the programs they fund in Orange County. Ryan White Foundation is the major funder of the HIV Program at Laguna Beach Community Clinic.

The survey, conducted anonymously by a third party, gave the Laguna Clinic’s program, led by Drs. Chau Ngo and Korey Jorgensen, both Certified HIV Specialists, high marks in virtually every categories. The report said, “Quality measures meet or exceed national standards and patient satisfaction is also high.”

In the survey, more than 90% of those polled strongly agreed that they are happy with their care at the clinic and said their provider took the time to explain their medical condition and the options available. Jorgensen and Ngo have been providing care for HIV patients for almost 20 years.

“I am grateful to the Ryan White Foundation and the OC Healthcare Agency for recognizing LBCC’s excellence,” Jorgensen said. “But most of all, I appreciate that they join with us to make it possible for all HIV-infected people to get care, regardless of ability to pay. Dr. Ngo and the entire clinic staff join with me in saying thank you to both the Foundation and the Agency.”

Laguna Culinary Arts going ‘green’

Laguna Culinary Arts is replacing many of its paper products and to-go containers — including paper towels, parchment paper, toilet paper, coffee cups, ice tea and water cups, boxes and containers for soups, salads, sandwiches, olives, etc. — with products that are eco-friendly. These are products made from recycled materials, or that are compostable so they break down in the landfill.

“Plastic” cups and containers are made from corn products, and “clam shell” containers are made from sugar fiber that, if tossed in the ocean, would disappear in less than two weeks. Paper towels, parchment paper, napkins and toilet paper are all made from recycled materials.

Laguna Culinary Arts is located at 845 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach. Visit www.lagunaculinaryarts.com.
