POLICE FILES - April 18, 2008

The POLICE FILES are compiled from oral and written reports from the Laguna Beach Police Department and other sources. Not all police activity is included. Arrests indicate suspicion of violations, not charges filed nor the results of court action unless noted.

MONDAY

Alta Laguna Park: A Corona del Mar man and a Laguna Hills man were issued citations for drug possession at 1:16 a.m. at the park.

Laguna Canyon Road: An Anaheim man was arrested on suspicion of DUI at 1:11 a.m. after a traffic stop in the 1900 block.

SUNDAY

Bluebird Canyon Drive: A $1 loss was reported due to fraud at 12:42 p.m. in the 300 block.

Coast Highway: Two 24-packs of beer were reported stolen by two men at 3:40 p.m. from a market in the 30900 block.

Gainsborough Place: A laptop was reported stolen from a residence at 12:21 a.m. in the 700 block.

North Coast Highway: A man from Mexico was arrested on suspicion of exposing himself to children at 3:35 p.m. in the 100 block of the beach.

South Coast Highway: A Newport Coast woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI after colliding with another vehicle, causing an hourlong closure of the highway, at 7:02 p.m. in the 400 block.

Temple Hills Drive: A motorcyclist sustained a compound fracture of his right arm after a spill at 11:54 a.m. at Donna Drive.

Thalia Street: A Laguna Beach resident was arrested on suspicion of DUI at 1:58 a.m. after a traffic stop in the 200 block.

SATURDAY

Circle Drive: A woman was given medical aid after passing out in the street at 3:40 p.m. at Coast Highway.

Coast Highway: An injured sea lion was taken into custody at 2:40 p.m. in the 30800 block.

Coast Highway: Money was reported stolen from a vehicle at 8:34 p.m. in the 30800 block.

Mountain View Drive: Two people were reported wearing ski masks and carrying guns, which turned out to be air guns, at 7:43 p.m. in the 2000 block.

North Coast Highway: An Ontario man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and three of his passengers cited for having open containers of alcohol in a vehicle at 4:30 p.m. at Aster Street.

North Coast Highway: A Lake Elsinore man was arrested and held without bail on a warrant after the motor home in which he was a passenger was stopped for reckless driving at 7:47 p.m. at El Morro ridge.

FRIDAY

Bluebird Canyon Drive: A man was arrested on a petty theft warrant after a traffic stop at 9:36 a.m. at South Coast Highway.

Ocean Avenue: A Laguna Hills resident was arrested at 12:13 a.m. on suspicion of DUI after a traffic stop in the 200 block.

THURSDAY

Balboa Avenue: Five fruit trees were reported stolen from a backyard at 9:43 a.m. in the 700 block.

Bluff Drive: An injured sea lion was reported, and a rescue team on the way, at 1:58 p.m. at Table Rock Beach in the 31000 block.

Broadway: A Mammoth Lakes resident was arrested on suspicion of stealing two 12-packs of beer and a man was cited on suspicion of drug possession at 5:44 p.m. in the 200 block.

Coast Highway: A scanner was reported stolen from a delivery truck at 12:17 p.m. in the 31000 block.

Laguna Canyon Road: A bicyclist was knocked out and sustained a neck injury and facial lacerations after colliding with a vehicle at 5:10 p.m. in the 2000 block.

Ocean Avenue: A woman accused another woman of attacking her at 11:52 p.m. at a restaurant/bar in the 200 block.

WEDNESDAY

High Drive: A grand theft was reported of valuables stored in a garage at 10:38 a.m. in the 100 block.

North Coast Highway: Clothing and a laptop computer were reported stolen from a motel room at 10:15 p.m. in the 1400 block.

South Coast Highway: Employees of a restaurant reported at 1:08 p.m. that a man in his 30s was demanding to know if the employees were legal in the 1000 block.
