LAS CRUCES, N.M. — UC Irvine senior Jane Chin shot four-under-par 68 Wednesday to win the individual title and lead the Anteaters to a dominant team victory in the 54-hole event on the host school’s golf course.

UCI’s final round of 286 set a school team record for 18 holes as the ’Eaters, who led the 17-team tourney from start to finish, wound up 18 shots ahead of runner-up Baylor.

Chin (70-74-68—212), who like UCI won for the second straight tournament, led the event with 13 birdies and also topped the field in par-5 scoring with a 4.5 average. Chin was four-under for the tourney. Patty Chawalitmetha finished sixth (221), Hillary Packard tied for 12th (226), while Joy Trotter and Lalita Patipaksiri tied for 15th (227).

UC Irvine 11, Cal Baptist 9

IRVINE — Brandon Johnson and Greg Enloe scored four goals apiece for the Anteaters in the nonconference home game Wednesday.

UCI (6-7), ranked No. 9, outscored the Lancers, 5-2, in the third period, after playing to a 4-4 halftime tie.

COSTA MESA — Freshman Rachel Freeno led the Pirates with 14 kills in their 25-18, 25-22, 19-25, 25-22 Orange Empire Conference win Wednesday.

Freshman Briana Fields had 13 kills, sophomore Emily Lyon added 37 assists and freshman Amanda Cheseborough contributed 20 digs for OCC (11-1, 3-1 in conference).

COSTA MESA — An own goal gave the Lions the lead in the 40th minute, but the equalizer came in the 59th minute of the Golden State Athletic Conference contest Thursday at Vanguard.

Vanguard (6-3-3, 1-3-2 in conference) had an 18-11 advantage in shots and junior goalie Jillian Foss made four saves in a game that featured two scoreless overtime periods.
