Rohrabacher, Cook, other candidates to debate

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher and Huntington Beach Mayor Debbie Cook will join third-party candidates Thomas Lash and Ernst Gasteiger on Tuesday for the only debate scheduled between the contenders for the congressional seat held by Rohrabacher.

Five panelists will question the candidates 11 a.m. at OCC’s Robert B. Moore Theatre.

There will be one faculty panelist, two panelists from local newspapers and two student panelists.

The candidates have differences on several issues for the voters in the 46th District. Rohrabacher is a Republican, Cook is a Democrat, Lash represents the Green Party, and Gasteiger is a Libertarian.

With the economy on many voters’ minds, it is sure to be an issue, and the candidates have markedly different stances on whether the government should have passed a bill to relieve distressed financial institutions.
