Firefighters throw support behind Foley for council
- Share via
The union that represents Costa Mesa firefighters announced Friday that it is endorsing Katrina Foley for City Council.
Foley is the only candidate that the Firefighter’s Assn. is getting behind, much like the police union that picked Foley earlier.
Some candidates have decided not to court the endorsements this year, saying that they think it is a conflict of interest because City Council members vote on pay and benefits contracts for the employees.
Gary Monahan, Jim Righeimer and Eric Bever are boycotting the process of seeking the endorsements of public service workers this time around, although Monahan has been endorsed by the unions before.
Foley is trumpeting the endorsement and saying that the three men’s criticisms are disingenuous because the last police and fire contract was approved unanimously.
