Local tennis players to compete at Indian Wells

Players from Huntington Beach and Fountain Valley will join recreational tennis teams from around the country as they compete for a national title at the United States Tennis Assn. League 3.5 Men’s and Women’s National Championships at Indian Wells beginning Friday.
The tournament, which runs through Sunday at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, will conclude with a new national championship team at the 3.5 senior men’s and women’s level.
Surf City residents representing the USTA’s Southern California Section at the tournament are: Valerie Pascoe, Cheryl Lamont, Julie Mulligan, Joseph Sappia, Jim Robbins and Mel Samick.
Fountain Valley players representing the Southern California Section are Edward Wray, Doug True and Frank Seaberg.
