A three-run eighth inning broke a 3-3 tie and lifted Cuba to a 6-3 victory over the USA 15U baseball team on Sunday night in the gold-medal game of the 15U World Cup in Mexico.
Hunter Greene of Sherman Oaks Notre Dame pitched a scoreless seventh but then got into trouble in the eighth.
It was a good tournament for Greene, who came into the game with a 2-0 record and 0.82 ERA.
USA went 9-1 in the tournament. Outfielder Brice Turang, who will be a freshman at Corona Santiago, was 21 for 38 in the tournament.
Second baseman Royce Lewis from JSerra and pitcher John Dearth from South Hills will join Greene and Turang in coming home with silver medals.
