Boys’ basketball: Darryl Polk’s three lifts Long Beach Poly into championship game

Darryl Polk of Long Beach Poly delivered a game-winning three-pointer at the top of the key as time was expiring to help the Jackrabbits defeat Corona Centennial, 59-57, in a semifinal game of the Fairfax tournament on Friday night.
Polk finished with 15 points. Zafir Williams led Poly with 23 points.
Poly will play Mater Dei in Saturday’s 6 p.m. final. Mater De defeated Santa Margarita, 78-67.
In consolation games, Chino Hills defeated Redondo, 111-84. Eli Scott scored 47 points and LaMelo Ball had 25. Fairfax defeated La Canada, 74-52. Jamal Hartwell had 21 points and Ethan Anderson 19.
Loyola defeated Alemany, 70-66. DJ McDonald scored 17 points for Alemany. Crespi defeated Brentwood, 60-54.
Santa Monica defeated Calabasas, 65-47. Rip Economou had 15 points. Orange Lutheran defeated Maranatha, 75-50. Chris Williams scored 14 points.
