Boys’ soccer: Sylmar stuns Servite in Division II SoCal final, 3-1

City Section soccer earned plenty of respect on Saturday thanks to the performance of the Sylmar Spartans. They knocked off Southern Section Division 1 champion Anaheim Servite, 3-1, in the Division II Southern California Regional final at Yorba Linda.
Alexis Gomez scored on a penalty kick, then Edrai Garcia added two more goals. Goalie Angel Noriega had eight saves.
In Division III, Cathedral received two goals from Jose Cano in a 3-0 victory over Canoga Park.
In Division I, Chula Vista defeated El Camino Real, 4-2.
