St. John Bosco linemen were so dominant early on in the tug-a-war competition on Saturday at Huntington Beach that you needed a stopwatch to keep track of how few seconds it took for the Braves to prevail.
They cruised into the final to face Orange Lutheran, and then came a big surprise. The Lancers, anchored by Scean Mustin and receiving support from Oregon-bound Logan Bathke, defeated St. John Bosco.
Lancer linemen were ecstatic. Their strength should be a plus come Trinity League time.
St. John Bosco, however, won the overall lineman competition, led by heavily recruited junior Wyatt Davis.
The biggest winner was Huntington Beach defensive lineman Sam Sac, who ate 10 hot dogs in five minutes to win the hot dog eating contest among linemen.
