Sprinter Ariana Washington of Long Beach Poly won her 100-meter heat in 11.52 seconds on Wednesday at the IAAF World Youth Championships in Ukraine.
Shotputter Amir Ali Patterson of Encino Crespi finished eighth in his event with a mark of 64-7 3/4.
