A quick look at the Kings’ and Ducks’ 2015-16 schedules

Reporting from LAS VEGAS — Fans eager for the resumption of the Kings-Ducks rivalry will have a bit of a wait this upcoming NHL season.
All five meetings between the Southern California teams will take place in the second half of the season. The first regular-season game between the Kings and the Ducks, who reached the Western Conference final, is on Jan. 17 at Honda Center.
Other items of note, as the NHL’s 2015-16 schedule was released on Thursday morning (including the Kings and the Ducks).:
--The Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks will play the Kings at Staples Center on Nov. 28, one day after playing the Ducks at Honda Center.
--Anaheim has an eight-game homestand in January that includes games against Toronto (Jan. 6) and Detroit (Jan. 10).
--The longest trip for both teams is seven games.
--The Kings begin with five straight games at home, starting with the opener on Oct. 7 against San Jose. Anaheim’s season opener is at San Jose on Oct. 10 and the Ducks’ home opener follows two days later against Vancouver at Honda Center.
