Major League Soccer said Wednesday that its 2014 All-Star Game would be held at Jeld-Wen Field in Portland, Ore., home of the MLS’ Portland Timbers.
The match will take place in late July or early August and feature the league’s top players competing against a leading international club.
This year’s All-Star Game, in which the MLS All-Stars will play AS Roma of Italy, will be played July 31 at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan.
Jeld-Wen Field reopened for MLS play in April 2011 after a major renovation, and since then the Timbers have had 42 consecutive sellouts, the league said. (The facility’s sponsor, Jeld-Wen, is a maker of windows and doors.)
“The Portland Timbers and their passionate fans have certainly earned the honor” of hosting next year’s All-Star Game, MLS Commissioner Don Garber said in a statement.
