Lakers to open Summer League tournament against Milwaukee

LAS VEGAS -- And on the sixth day of the Las Vegas Summer League, the Lakers rested.
Winning two of their first three games entitled them to an extra day off Wednesday after seedings were announced for the tournament portion of play. The eighth-seeded Lakers will play ninth-seeded Milwaukee at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Forward Marcus Landry has led the Lakers in scoring, averaging 14.7 points per game during a loss to Cleveland and victories over Portland and the Clippers.
The Clippers, who were seeded No. 17 after going 1-2 in the preliminary portion of Summer League play, will open the tournament at 7:30 Wednesday night against 16th-seeded Dallas at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Rookie Reggie Bullock has led the Clippers in scoring, averaging 16 points per game during a victory over Atlanta and losses to the Lakers and the D-League Select team.
The Lakers have historically struggled in the Summer League and it’s little wonder. They haven’t kept their first-round draft pick since 2007, instead preferring to build their roster through splashy free-agent moves.
Their record is reflective of not having much high-end talent: They went 1-4 in 2012, 0-5 in 2010, 3-2 in 2009, 2-4 in 2008 and 2-3 in 2007.
