Kobe Bryant off All-Defensive first team for first time since 2005

Lakers guard Kobe Bryant has been on the NBA’s All-Defensive first team every year since 2005.
Not any longer.
Bryant was second team All-Defensive this season, the NBA announced Wednesday.
The Clippers’ Chris Paul and Memphis’ Tony Allen were the guards selected to the first team, which was rounded out by Miami forward LeBron James, Oklahoma City forward Serge Ibaka and Orlando center Dwight Howard.
In addition to Bryant, the second team consisted of Boston guard Rajon Rondo, Boston forward Kevin Garnett, Chicago forward Luol Deng and New York center Tyson Chandler,
Bryant has been first-team All-Defensive nine times in his 16-year career.
Somewhat surprisingly, Andrew Bynum received no votes from the panel, which consisted of the 30 NBA head coaches. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players.
Metta World Peace had three second-team votes but was 23rd overall on the list of players who received votes.
