Former Westchester High standout Dwayne Polee II was scheduled to undergo tests at a hospital in San Diego on Tuesday after collapsing on the court in the first half during San Diego State’s victory over UC Riverside on Monday night, a school spokesman said.
“He left alert and was able to carry on a conversation,” spokesman Mike May said Tuesday morning.
Polee’s father, Dwayne Sr., and mother, Yolanda, were at the game and joined their son at the hospital, May said.
The episode lasted 15 minutes as paramedics worked on Polee, who was playing defense for San Diego State when he collapsed.
“Certainly, when anything like that happens ... it was scary,” May said.
Polee, a 6-foot-7 senior, was the City Section player of the year in 2009.
