Hillary Clinton on Chicago-Boston game: ‘Three overtimes. Really?’

Twitter newcomer and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, speaking at the Clinton Global Initiative on Thursday in Chicago, reached back into her hockey-fan childhood and mentioned a certain exhausted hockey team.
“I listened to my friend [Chicago] Mayor [Rahm] Emanuel reference the Blackhawks games,” said Clinton, who was introduced by her husband, former President Bill Clinton.
“I can remember listening to the Blackhawk games on the radio when I did my homework -- all those years ago. And my father and brothers and I were great Blackhawk fans. But, three overtimes. Really?”
Clinton was born in Chicago and grew up in suburban Park Ridge.
“I can imagine there is a sense of euphoria as well as exhaustion,” she said. Yes and yes.
The Blackhawks defeated the Boston Bruins in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, 4-3, in triple overtime. It ended at midnight CDT in Chicago, the fifth-longest game in Stanley Cup Final history.
This came on the heels of the Blackhawks’ needing double overtime to defeat the Kings on Saturday in Game 5 to clinch that series.
