Clippers’ J.J. Redick over disappointment of losing in playoffs

It took Clippers guard J.J. Redick about three weeks to get over the disappointment of his team getting eliminated by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs in May.
Now four months removed from losing Game 6 at Staples Center, a game that left Redick so emotional that he cried over breakfast the day after the Clippers were sent home for the summer, the 6-foot-4 guard said he’s “over” that.
“I’m focused on this year,” Redick said Monday at the Clippers’ media day. “Let’s rock and roll now.”
Redick missed 21 games last season because of a fractured right hand and torn ligaments in his right wrist and 25 more because of a sore right hip and a bulging disc in his lower back.
Redick said he’s healthy and ready for this season.
“The strength in my right leg is healed,” said Redick, who averaged 15.2 points in 28.2 minutes last season. “So I feel good.”
Redick said he returned to his offseason home in Austin, Texas, to get physically and mentally rejuvenated.
He said he got his body back in shape and got his mind back to thinking about helping the Clippers again this season.
The Clippers start training camp Tuesday in Las Vegas.
“It always takes a few weeks just to kind of pick yourself up,” Redick said. “There’s a little period of time where you throw a pity party for yourself. I had that for a couple of weeks. But I’m ready now.”
