UCLA basketball: Bruins are ranked sixth (in ticket prices)

UCLA’s basketball team has been playing in a less-than-half-full Pauley Pavilion through five games this season, with an average announced attendance of 5,673 in the 13,800-seat arena.

A possible contributing factor is ticket prices. In a report by Vividseats.com, a secondary ticket broker, UCLA has the sixth highest-priced tickets in all of college basketball, with the median price $95.

Kansas is No. 1 at $265, followed by Kentucky at $200, Duke at $179, Gonzaga at $110 and Indiana at $100.

Kansas, Duke and Kentucky have all won national titles since 2008. Gonzaga, in Spokane, and Indiana, in Bloomington, offer the only-game-in-town entertainment option.

UCLA’s prices do not include donations to the Wooden Athletic Fund, required for nearly every seat. Donations range from $100 to $17,000, depending on seat location.

Other factors for the vacant Pauley Pavilion are believed to be late starting times, Westside traffic and the teams the undefeated Bruins have played so far this season -- Drexel, Oakland, Sacramento State, Morehead State and Chattanooga.
