UCLA slips in polls after victory over Virginia

What does an eight-point victory over Virginia do for you?
It hurts your national standing.
UCLA dropped from seventh to 11th in the USA Today coaches poll and the Associated Press poll after a 28-20 victory over the Cavaliers. It could be worse. Stanford routed UC Davis, 45-0, and was dropped from 11th to 13th in the AP poll.
Florida State, Alabama, Oregon and Oklahoma remained the top four teams in the AP poll. The new college football system will be a four-team playoff.
The good news for UCLA fans? The polls have no bearing on which teams will be selected for the playoffs.
Another close victory this week, against Memphis, could send the Bruins further down the polls.
