Former USC receiver George Farmer has shot at making Cowboys’ roster

George Farmer will have a chance at a fresh start when he begins training camp with the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday in Oxnard.
The Cowboys signed the former USC receiver as an undrafted free agent in May in a deal that reportedly guarantees Farmer $55,000.
Farmer is among 11 receivers, including five rookies -- each an undrafted free agent -- on the Cowboys’ training camp roster.
The team returns star receiver Dez Bryant, starter Terrance Williams and backups Cole Beasley, Devin Street and Reggie Dunn. A.J. Jenkins joined the team as a free agent in the off-season.
Farmer signed with USC as a top high school receiver in the 2011 recruiting class, but in four seasons he caught just 30 passes, four for touchdowns.
Farmer was slowed or sidelined because of injuries throughout most of his Trojans career and declared for the NFL with a season of eligibility remaining.
He ran the 40-yard dash in an impressive 4.35 seconds at USC’s Pro Day in March.
The Cowboys will practice in Oxnard for a month and practices are open to the public.
The Cowboys open the season against the New York Giants on Sept. 13 at AT&T Stadium.
