Vernon Adams will transfer to Oregon; could play against USC

USC did not face Oregon and Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Marcus Mariota the last two seasons.

Mariota has since made himself available for the NFL draft, and his departure was well-timed for the Trojans, who play Oregon on Nov. 21 at Autzen Stadium.

But the Trojans could have a new quarterback to reckon with.

Eastern Washington’s Vernon Adams, from Mission Hills Alemany High, announced Monday on Twitter that he would transfer to Oregon.

Adams has passed for 110 touchdowns, with 31 interceptions, in three seasons. He rushed for 1,232 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Adams is scheduled to graduate from Eastern Washington in June. He will have one season of eligibility remaining.

Adams has experience against Pac-12 Conference opponents.

In 2013, he passed for 411 yards and four touchdowns in a 49-46 victory over Oregon State.

Adams completed 31 of 46 passes for 475 yards and seven touchdowns in a 59-52 loss to Washington last season.
