Another cruise company has jumped into TV show sponsorship as a way to entice new travelers into seeing the world.
AmaWaterways, with a fleet of 20 river boats cruising Europe, Asia and Africa, is backing a new Samantha Brown show called “Places to Love,” which is airing on public television nationwide, including L.A.’s PBS station KOCE.
Carnival Corp., the world’s largest cruise company, broke new ground in 2016 when it began sponsoring three television shows about travel: “Ocean Treks With Jeff Corwin,” “The Voyager With Josh Garcia” and “Vacation Creation.”
Brown’s 30-minute show debuted this month and will have 13 weekly episodes, followed by a second season, which will also be sponsored by AmaWaterways. The show will explore destinations around the globe.
A segment that aired Sunday featured Switzerland. Next Sunday’s segment, which can be seen at 6:30 p.m. on KOCE, will be about Brooklyn.
In a statement, AmaWaterways said it is supporting the series because it “highlights the importance of culturally immersive travel experiences which is something that matches our own philosophy to river cruising.”
“Places to Love” will focus on the people in various destinations who are delivering a new and enriching travel experience. In each episode, Brown will focus on new experiences available in the destinations.
