BizAir debuts at LAX with service to Carlsbad

If you need to get to Carlsbad quickly and don’t want to drive or take the train, BizAir Shuttle is launching service on Thursday from Terminal 3 at LAX.
The new airline and route will fill a void left when United stopped flying from LAX to Carlsbad (CLD) in April.
Flights on Biz Air Shuttle are operated by partner Ultimate Jetcharters.
BizAir isn’t just for business travelers, said Chief Executive Dan Cretsinger. “Don’t let the name fool you,” he said. “We’ll take children, we’ll take leisure passengers.... If you’re a consumer, you’re a customer, and we want your repeat business.”
He launched the family-owned company initially to offer business travelers a more comfortable shuttle between Chicago and New York.
To that end, he asked Embraer to subtract seven seats from its 37-seat EJR-135LR regional jet to create more legroom. Two rows of seats were removed, and Wi-Fi and 100v power outlets were added.
Embraer liked these results so much that it displayed the craft at the Paris Air Show. Its 51st show ends Sunday.
Initially, BizAir will offer two roundtrips daily to Carlsbad.
Fares between LAX and Carlsbad range from $139-$229 each way.
It plans to add service from Carlsbad to Las Vegas in July and Carlsbad to Phoenix in August.
