Frontier Airlines’ fare sale features 20 destinations from L.A.

Frontier Airlines launched a New Year’s sale on Wednesday that features low prices on selected dates. That’s the key, “selected dates.” In my search I found travel dates somewhat limited, but if they work for you, this could be your first deal of the year.
The deal: The fare sale from Los Angeles applies to 20 destinations. One-way fares start at $97 to Portland, Ore., $145 to Orlando, Fla., $110 to St. Louis and $163 to Washington, D.C. Frontier has a handy monthly calendar that displays the deal days (selected Mondays through Thursdays and Saturdays) and prices.
When: Tickets must be purchased by 8:59 p.m. Jan. 10 for travel through March 13. Sale prices are based on availability, and some blackout dates apply.
Tested: I checked sale prices from L.A. to New Orleans to visit in time for Mardi Gras, which is Feb. 12 this year. I found availability for a round-trip fare of $270 leaving Feb. 10 and returning Feb. 18. (If you want to return on the weekend, be prepared to pay $206 to $309 for the one-way return flight.) I also found a round-trip fare of $328 from L.A. to Minneapolis leaving March 5 and returning March 11.
