Get your duck calls ready, ‘Duck Commander Musical’ flies to Las Vegas

Reporting from Las Vegas — Cable television’s favorite reality show family is getting its own musical in Las Vegas.
“Duck Commander Musical” opens at the Crown Theater inside the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino on April 15.

The show, based on the book “The Duck Commander Family” by Willie and Korie Robertson of A&E’s “Duck Dynasty” fame, features 90 minutes depicting the family’s rise to fame with their duck-calling business in Monroe, La.

“It isn’t often that you are approached with the idea to have your life story transformed into a musical,” said Willie Robertson, CEO of Duck Commander. “But when opportunity knocks, you answer the door — and sometimes that door leads to Las Vegas.”

The show includes songs inspired by the family with names such as “Faith, Food and Family,” “Camouflage,” “Cooking for the Family,” and “Like the River Flows.” Country, rock, gospel and pop genres are covered. The set promises a multimedia backdrop of the backwoods of the bayou.

Music executive Tommy Mottola and the New York-based production company Dodgers, which also produces the musical “Jersey Boys” at Paris Las Vegas, are behind this show.

Tickets range from $49 to $125 and go on sale on Thursday, Feb. 17, at 10 a.m.

This isn’t the first time a reality show has jumped over to the stage in Las Vegas. The History Channel’s “Pawn Stars” made a go of it with “Pawn Shop Live,” which moved from the Golden Nugget to the Riviera last year and quietly closed in August after a total of eight months.
