Batter Up! Toronto Wins Opener

TORONTO — Lloyd Moseby homered and drove in three runs today to lead the Toronto Blue Jays over the Cleveland Indians 7-3 in the first major league game to be played this year. The American League opened its season with the New York Yankees beating the Detroit Tigers 2-1 in 10 innings.
Willie Upshaw also homered as Toronto rapped 11 hits, seven for extra bases. A crowd of 40,404 watched the game in 50-degree weather. The game started 2 1/2 hours after umpires reached agreement on a new labor contract with the American and National leagues. Terms were not immediately disclosed.
