In his new role as “good-will ambassador” for UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund, entertainer Harry Belafonte will testify Wednesday before the House Appropriations subcommittee on foreign operations. Belafonte’s first UNICEF mission was to Dakar, Senegal, where he was chairman of a symposium last month on the health and well-being of African children. He will testify before the subcommittee chaired by Rep. David Obey (D-Wis.) on what he learned about child survival and development programs during that visit.
