The Private Industry Council of Orange County said it received a federal grant for training, retraining and individual job placement services for 1,694 workers laid off by 12 Orange County-based companies from May to July of 1986.
The council, a nonprofit organization, said workers for the 12 companies who lost their jobs during that period should contact the county’s Job Training Partnership Agency, which is operating the training and placement program, at (714) 645-5872. The 12 companies or facilities whose former workers are eligible for the program are:
Applied Circuit Technology; Beckman Instruments; Century Data Systems plants in Anaheim and Brea; Chevron research center in La Habra; Emerson Electronics; Erickson Telephone; Fluorocarbon; Irvine Co.; Smith Tool; Emulex; Group W Cable of Costa Mesa, and Lear Siegler in Irvine.
