The Soviet Union will decide in the next few days whether to try to dock the space research module Kvant with the orbiting station Mir after an earlier docking attempt failed, a Soviet space official said. Flight Director Valery Ryumin told a news conference that Kvant has sufficient fuel reserves to make several more docking attempts. Mission control called off Sunday’s docking attempt as Kvant approached to within 200 meters (about 218 yards) of Mir because of a problem with the craft’s control systems.
