NEW YORK — Singer Roberta Flack and composer Marvin Hamlisch refused to cross a CBS writers’ picket line today to appear on “The Morning Program,” and the network substituted a taped interview with folk singer and labor activist Pete Seeger.
Seeger, the author of “Carry It On,” a history of the labor movement in song and picture, laughed when told about the network’s move. “I didn’t even know about the strike,” he said by telephone from his upstate New York home.
