Toma’s Anti-Drug Crusade Will Be at Palos Verdes High Tonight

David Toma will carry his anti-drug crusade to parents of Palos Verdes Peninsula high school students at 7 tonight on the Rolling Hills campus.
School officials, anticipating a large turnout, said the speaker’s message will be piped into tents set up to accommodate people who can’t get into the school’s gym. Tickets are $2.
Norman La Caze, head of a parents group sponsoring the Toma event under the auspices of the Peninsula Education Foundation, said money left over from ticket sales and fund-raising activities will be used to help finance long-term drug counseling programs. He said Toma’s fee for the week-long campaign in the Peninsula schools was $12,000.
Last year, the foundation raised money to hire a full-time coordinator for a districtwide drug education program. About 30 community professionals provided volunteer counseling at campuses visited by Toma this week.
Toma is scheduled to return in early June for a week of appearances at three schools in the South Bay Union High School District.
