Orange County College Baseball : UCLA Defeats Fullerton Again, 16-12

UCLA scored 10 runs in the sixth inning and defeated Cal State Fullerton, 16-12, in a nonconference baseball game Wednesday at UCLA.
The Titans (32-13), ranked fifth in the country by Baseball America, scored seven runs in the sixth inning to take a 12-4 lead.
But the sixth-ranked Bruins (33-14), behind Torey Lovullo’s grand slam, quickly took a 14-12 lead. Lovullo’s homer was his 19th and gave him 169 career runs batted in, breaking the school record of 168 set by Lindsay Meggs from 1981-84.
Fullerton’s Mark Razook hit two home runs, bringing his season total to five, and Greg Mannion hit his seventh for the Titans.
Gary Buckels (3-2), who replaced Paul Johnston in the sixth, gave up the grand slam and took the loss. Johnson had replaced starter Mark Beck in the fifth.
Bill Wenrick (5-2) earned the victory.
The loss snapped an 11-game Titan winning streak. UCLA has defeated Cal State Fullerton in both meetings this season. The Bruins defeated the Titans, 8-5, April 1.
Fullerton returns to Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. play Friday night in the first of a three-game series at Fresno State.
In nonconference baseball:
Southern California 15, Biola 8--The Vanguards scored eight runs in the sixth inning on seven hits, including a two-run single by Randy Frazier, to take an 11-3 lead at Biola. Joe Holden hit his third home run in four games, and four other SCC players--Kevin Kasper, Mike Lomeli, Josh Johnson and Mike Frei--hit home runs. Lomeli (10-4) earned the victory for SCC (16-26).
