Gymnastics Program at CS Northridge Is Officially Eliminated

Cal State Northridge officially disbanded its women’s gymnastics program Thursday, two weeks after Judith Brame, women’s athletic director, recommended the sport be dropped because of declining competition in Division II.
The sport had been teetering on the brink of elimination for the past few years as other Division II programs in the region and across the nation disappeared.
Coach Susan Rouse, whose team was 19-8 and placed third in the West Region this spring, said the news came as no surprise.
“They’ve been saying the program was in jeopardy for a couple of years now, but never made a move,” she said.
